Default Center Console Indicator Problem / 1996

The indicator needle is binding with the clear plastic which broke from the center console. Was it held in place by glue or something snapped. Reviewing Ecklers pag 32 part # 41023 is DISC. Do i need to replace the center console or repair it if I'm able to.

Getting the car ready for spring, few things need to get done. The console is one item. Number 2 was the targa top it was cracked and finally, my drivers seat the seam opened on the seat. Pat from Lifestyle Custom Design was able to do the repair. Just to let you guys know Pat and Remi from Unique Whips are working in the same location

Location Patchogue, NY 11772

Thanks for your help guys

Howie

I'm totally amazed no one replied to this problem. People start the silliest threads and get replies. Example If I get a corvette will women think I'm cool. The answer is a Big NO if you have zero personality

The speedo console? If I were you, I buy a new one. It can be a PITA, to do it right without hasles, you have to remove the wheel.

Relax, people get to reply at their own convinience

I think he means the Automatic transmission shift indicator thats underneath the clear plastic display in the center console. The answer is it depends upon if the detent that rides on the shift if its broken or if the transmission shift point indicator line has just slipped out from the grove. To be sure you will need to pull the Shifter bezel and take a look whats really going on. Two bolts inside the front postion of the console lid and in in the cup holder area will allow you to pull the shift bezel slightly up and backwards. However be careful as if you pull it off too fast you could actually break the problem area when all it needs to be is repositioned.

Sorry "we" could not frame a response to you sooner but honestly check your attitude at the door or find another forum to play in.

I just replaced the console shifter plate on my 96 last year and I had to take the clear plastic shift indicator off of the old shifter plate because the new one didn't come with it.
