Well The car stopped starting/turning over. Console/LCD would not light up. PKE would not function upon approach. I read some others experiences and did some troubleshooting as I could. Last week I had it taken to a local Corvette shop. I got a preliminary call from them telling me they could not communicate with the BCM/CCM or Hvac via their Tech 2. They said the ECM seemed fine .
So their exploring finding a replacement refurb(CCM) or having mine refurb-ed. Again this is preliminary at the moment but we will see what the out come is.
Update: Well the shop I took car too had ordered a BCM/CCM from another car(not sure of what year) with 10K more miles than mine had.
I wasn't so eager to go this route yet since I've heard how others have had their BCM/CCM refurbed and reinstalled with success.
So I called :
((K&B Special Products
5175 Overbend Trail
Suwanee Ga. 30174
[Ken Anderson 770-777-1031 ] ))
Had a good conversation with Ken about their work and cost. He was very confident about repairing my BCM/CCM. Sounds like they have all the "info" they need to do the proper repair of these devices.
So I called my Shop back and gave them Ken's contact info so we will soon see how this goes.
One thing that I was wondering about. From the Forum reads I've got the impression that installing a BCM from another car does work however I was today given the impression that this doesn't work ? I found that strange and was wondering if those who have replaced their BCM's from another vehicle (of same type/year) could chime in. I like to try and confirm if rumors are rumors or FACTs.
One additional question. Has anyone here sent a BCM/CCM to CarDone.com for refurb ? If so how was your experience ?
The shop got it put in the car and there is positive and negatives.
The Positive is the car will start.
The Negative is a list of things so far:
Repeat starts don't work(seems to be VATS issue but unclear they say)
There are some Serial Data issues, ASR isn't working they say
Several other errors are be reported , I don't have any more details yet.
When they use their Tech2 there are several parameters which they can not read so this concerns them. Their going to Call and question about this.
I guess it was too much to hope that I would be able to pop this in and all would return to normal like has happened for some other folks. Just my luck of lack of !!
Car is again running and appears well. They tell me they had to re-flash the ECM and this resolved the Serial data issues and misc codes they were experiencing since the rebuilt BCM was installed.
One issue now remains. They tell me the Speedometer is reading 20 MPH Fast. They have confirmed this reading with the Tech2.
My arm chair thoughts are that when they reflashed the ECM this has something to do with the Speedometer reading.
Their going to investigate this in the morning.
He tells me other than the speed-o the Car is all 100% .
After having my CCM replaced and the ECM reflashed I'm now told that my car has non-standard Rack-Pinion Gears. I'm told that I have 3.73 rear end. This has made the speedo Off by some factor.
Other than a Hypertech Power Programmer III what other options are there for getting the SpeedOmeter calibrated ?
I've got a call in to a Dealer to see if they can do this for me but I'm not very optimistic about this. They claim unless the GM Hotline says its ok they can't do it. SO thats who their calling now.
Then I'm told that there Hyper Tech is limited for use on only 1 single car .
