My 93 gets rarely driven, however I do start it and make sure to run the AC compressor for 15-20 minutes even in the winter.
About 2 years ago, the compressor got replaced and it was converted over to the freon. I'm hoping it was a denso unit and not some cheap refurb - it looks stock.
It is now blowing hot air and i can't get the green AC light to come up. When I push it i hear a click under the hood.
I'm thinking its low on freon and that is why the system won't allow the compressor to run.
How can I make sure?
I know you can tap into the AC head unit and get codes, will that tell me anything?
For those who have the newer freon, what should I expect to put a few lbs in it? I know the old stuff was expensive. Maybe it has a leak now somewhere and I'll have to track it down.

The 134 has smaller molecules, so tends to leak especially on the old R12 systems. A can a season is pretty normal. The button should be flashing telling you you have a system error (generally low freon). You can get the stuff at any auto parts store along with a kit to put it in, usually under $20. Sometimes the buttons will stick if the car sits for a while, and you have to keep pushing them to get them to work(try pushing each button up and down the line a couple of times)

Got this taken care of today, wound up being the buttons on the control unit. Yesterday, I pushed each button but today I went back and mashed each button like 10 times - now it works like a charm. The buttons probably got stuck because I never use them
Maybe I should change out the AC control unit with the 3/4 replacements I have in storage LOL
Thanks Fred!
