rodj is right. You don't need a chip till you make some BIG mods. The cold air kit is a good idea. Take the money you would have spent on the chip and add to it and put a good exhaust system on the car. This will really wake it up. Pipe
Only buy a chip if you can get one cheap and its a good quality. You won't gain any hp. But they can reset the temps on your fans to come on sooner. Cold air intake won't gain too much either. I have done most of the small stuff in the beginning to know better. You can get a K@N air filter and cut your own lid to flow a little better. Really the only benefit it will be the last filter you have to buy.
just picked up a 1992 vette and i would like to by a chip and a cold intake where to go and what to do
Just look in any of the Corvette sites, Eckers, Mid America, Corvette Central etc... and buy whatever you want however, A chip is expensive and will only turn the fans on earlier and advance timing a little which is a waste of hard earned money.
Next, go in the garage and remove the stock metal air filter cover then with a fine tooth metal cutting blade on your jigsaw, cut the louvers out of the stock air filter cover so, the opening is not restricted. You've just made your own air intake for free.
