Does anyone here have any experience with either the Fas-Top All Weather Tonneau Cover or the Protect-A-Top temporary cockpit covers? It's the time of year to go topless but I need something to keep the dust and sun out of the cockpit while parked. Manhandling the acrylic top is time consuming and screws up my back on a regular basis. I need something that is fast and easy to install and something that won't scratch my 20 year old paint. Any alternatives to the above would also be helpful. I've got an '89 coupe.
i dont have any expierence with either. I use an all weather - indoor/outdoor cover made by Wolf. It was relatively cheap considering all the options at less than $100 i think? It was a long time ago i purchased it. It suits my needs, for the occasional covering since mine is a DD. I think if you just make sure its an outdoor cover that will keep dust and sun out of the cockpit you should be happy. Check midamericamotorworks, ecklers, corvetteamerica etc. they have tons on the market at all kinds of prices.
I checked Mid America and Ecklers and those two I mentioned were there. A full cover is too much work for what I have in mind. My car is always garaged so I don't need a full cover. I just need something to keep dust and sun out while having lunch and stuff. I'll check out CorvetteAmerica and see what they've got.
How long does it take to put on/take off? Does it store easily?
About 1-2 Minutes taking your time.Just unfold it on the roof, connect front to windshield wipers, sides have a flexible strap that hooks under rear fender, the back tucks under the gas cap cover.
Viola !
Nothing to it. Really keeps your interior cool and more impartantly,U-V's are non existant on the dash and Interior.

One last question, Cajun ; can it be used without the roof (targa top) in place? I mostly need it for protecting the cockpit while parked with the targa removed.

Yes,as long as your windows are up.If it rains you may get some puddling naturally without the top but it will be fine in good weather.
