So my raiator has a leak so I ordered a new DeWtt dual core to put in. Anybody have any tips before I start to install it?
Another question (I've looked through the old posts and I don't want to start a war) and since I never came across the answer what did my car come with, Dex-cool or the green stuff? 95 LT1 Manual trans.
If your shopping for ideas heres a few. Replace the hoses while you are there. The radiator shroud has several screws that keep it into position. Two are best accessed from the underside of the car. The two screws (one per side) above the bottom ones are best removed from the headlight bucket area. The passenger side is easier and extensions will fit into the holes in the metal support structure. The driver side rad shroud screws may require moving the horn and the fan realys to get to.
As to the radiator its a fine radiator but its overkill unless your racing the car on a track. A stock radiator will work fine and as discussed the radiator you purchased will require spacers and modifications. Im a Daily driver in Arizona and I am hear to tell you a factory radiator works fine. I will state again however, the radiator you bought is a well made racing performance radiator. When you pull the old radiator take time to clean out the shroud area where the radiator was you will be surprised of all the dirt, leaves, bags and other crap and debries thats in the area. I suggest you look into the debris screen mods that folks have done here to prevent the same problem in the future to your new project from our bottom breathing C4s. Have fun.

I think the 95 was switched mid year to dex-cool. My 95 came with dex-cool but I switched it to the green after flushing everything out many times. I did replace my radiator in my stock 95 with the dewitts. I did use the spacers without any modifications to the shroud. I am keeping the stock thermostat and fan settings. I did not notice any cooling difference from the stock rad to the dewitts. Almost same temps.
Ok so I see a problem already. I opened the box and the only thing that looks like instructions was a single sheet of paper talking about cutting the top of the upper cushions. So the spacers are the metal bars? I need to check the DeWits site for anything to download.
Quick update. There was a PDF on the DWitt site that had more instructions on it than the sheet that was included in the box. Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for everyones input. Keep it coming.
I did not have to cut any upper cushions- when I purchased my rad about a year ago, they did not mention about modifying the cushions -their site now states that you will have to slightly cut them. The kit had 2 spacer bars and 2 pieces of foam strips that go on the top and bottom tank of the rad.I guess they eliminated the foam pieces to save money.
