My father has a 92'. He put a set of trick flow heads, an upgraded cam, plugs, wires, distributor. It ran great for about three days. Now when it starts it'll run great for about 5 minutes. Then it starts backfiring, an missing, an the check engine light comes on. Its giving out a code 36. We changed the plugs an wires(4 of the wires were melted on the exhaust headers) but problem still exist.
Check the connection on the MAF sensor. Also check your burn off relays.
No MAF on a 92, it is speed density. Code 36 on a 92 is related to the Opti, I would trouble shoot the circuit using the FSM. You may have gotten a bad one.
I have seen something like this before. Make sure no other wires or bundles are even close to the headers in front or behind
I had this happen with my first vette after I changed the heads and again on our boat when the zip tie broke and the ignition bundle fell on the exhaust manifold.
Good luck

Also check connector/terminals and harness to opti. Some brands of optis seem to have less trouble then others IMO
