Default Floor board damage

On my 1993 Coupe - I had an auto detailing mishap today. Long story short, but the car wash damaged my driver side floor board. They are repairing my car, but the question is does the entire board need to be replaced or can they "repair" it? What happened was the is a 2-3 inch gash along the left side front of the section of floor board. Needless to say I'm not happy, especially after I told the guy that is should be hand washed. I felt the ident under the carpet .

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks !

I'm not much into body work, but a small gash like that should be repairable.

And next time....Just say NO to car washes!

Why are you letting them repair the car?If you want them to make a bigger mess than whats areadly been done your going about it the right way.Take your car to a proper repair shop and get it fixed right.

I took it as they are paying the repair costs...

A decent fiber glass shop can do a quality repair on a floor board. Bondo is not the answer but it can be done.

Floor pan damage is very common on C4's and is easily repaired. There should be no lasting structural problems if fixed correctly.

floor damage is common because some people don't pay attention to the jacking points.

The floor jack goes under then you hear the crack of the fiberglass.

What the hell you doing taking a Vette to a car wash?
You should be grounded and your car taken away for ever.

Ok guys quit bashing. As repeatly stated within the bashing posts the floorboard is a common damaged area due ALL the reasons stated above. Take it to a fiberglass resin repair shop and get it done right. Especailly if they are paying the bill.

Also be thankful they didn't hose your engine down for you! Have them pay for it NOT do it themselves!

Happened to me when I first got my Vette

Took it somewhere to get the brakes checked, the bloke jacks it up takes the wheel off and is in the front wheel well checking the brakes, the phone rings and he goes to answer it.
Next thing I hear a bit of creaking and the jack goes through the floor and the car falls.

Lucky the phone rang or it may have fallen on his head.

Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley Ca did this on one of my Corvettes years ago but it was the steel floor behind the seats.I didnt find this until about 6 months later but took the car back, the owner comes out with the derelict that put the car on the lift.Guy looks at the car and them stares at the moron, looks at me and says, sorry, cant help you.Because of the time lapse I couldnt get them to pay for it.

I don't trust ANYBODY to work on my car any more. Trouble is, there are still a few things I just can't handle by myself on jack stands in the driveway. A lot of places don't like it when you insist on watching them like a hawk either. What's a guy supposed to do to make sure you don't leave with more damage than you came to fix?

There are some unfortunate souls that live in places where you can't wash your car. (HOA's,apt's,etc.) People who have traded their liberties for the collective good.
