What does the "Solar Sensor" do?
There's a small, globe-like gadget in the middle of my dash, 'next to the base of the windshield.
My 1993 owner's manual identifies it as the "Solar Sensor" but doesn't say what it does.
So what does it do?
My guess is to control the intensity of the display during the daytime.
Beyond that, I don't know.
So what does this little bugger do?

It's for the climate control. When it senses the sun out, it makes the air conditioner 3 degrees cooler.
The light sensor for the dash is the little dot to the left of the trip monitor.
Have fun learning how everthing works!

For Canadian cars, it's the sensor for the Daytime Running Lamps.

It knows when the mother ship (you know, the one hiding in the comet's tail) is close enough for rendezvous.

Peeped the 1984 sci-fi classic movie "Lifeforce" eh, Bob? ;) That Lady Godiva slim was a major hottie, wasn't she? I'm surprised we haven't seen any unpostables of her in the OT Portal yet.

I drove a '98 S10 as a company vehicle in CT and this sensor seemed to control the headlights also.
