tough trans
got a trans that is hard to shift every other time at stop, and very hard on inclines. have to shake in neutral to make shift
once the car gets going it shifts like a dream
any ideas of whats the problem?

I'm assuming it's a standard so it sounds like linkage adjustment or worn linkage or sacranizer rings getting worn.
Any noise coming from throwout bearing ?
Any slippage or smells from the clutch ?
Things going south give these signs so maybe someone will have something better for you.
