None, only OHV. Overhead cams were used on the LT5 in the ZR1s only, they were 4v DOHC motors. All the rest were 2v with one cam in the block.

Just to extend your comment. The LT5 in the C4 ZR-1 was the only production Corvette to EVER use double overhead cams. Every other V8, big block or small block since 1955, uses the one cam in the block.

yeah they switched over to a single overhead cam design in '96. (A cam on top of each head). They are notoriously a pain the butt to take apart.

Yeah, and Ford's business case for making the change to the OHC motors made So much sense. Higher fixed cost (Much higher, as much as $400 per vehicle in some cases), less HP and lower torque than the motors they were replacing (at the time, anyhow). NO improvement in either economy or emissions compliance. Big changes required in all of the body structures to accomodate wider and taller moters, etc.

I guess ridding themselves of the "old school" pushrod motors was worth it. Whatever, the whole OHC thing Still hasn't resulted in anything positive, as far as I can see. Meanwhile the old pushrod SBC (granted in it's third incarnation now with the LSx designs) keeps on getting it done..

Imagine the power if they install a DOHC in today's ZR1.

They don't need it, that's the reason they don't do it. With the LSx gen engines they designed a head that can flow as well as 4v DOHC heads can without the cost or complexity.
So I imagine the power and you know it's about the same.

Manufacturers claim the DOHC design improves the torque curve and improves throttle response. I own both and dont much of a difference.
