I changed out the horn last night but i wanted something more than what i got. I wanted something deep sounding, almost like a Macktruck horn. You know something that says "Hey move!" Or "Watch it!" Just something better than what i bought. The one i put in it sounds more like "pardon me, may i pass thru?"
I changed my horns on my 85 when I got it 5 years ago. They were the originals and had that high pitched tweet, tweet sound. I bought a pair of aftermarket horns from Advance Auto. I used them before on 2 other cars and they sound nice, like Corvette's from 1982 on back.
The way my 85 horns sounded was also very weak, no volumn to them. I figured they were almost dead and ruined inside from moisture and age they sounded so bad.
Maybe this is what 89Bats is talking about. I misunderstood what he was asking.
If you want something that sounds like a Vette should sound like... get yourself a set of Wolo's. I think they were just under $40.00 shipped.
Relative simple install. Well worth the money.
