I have an 86 coupe, it's black, with 77k and the paint is peeling in some places. Just how bad/cheap is the maaco paint jobs. I got a quote for $599 for urethane, including prep and body work. It is their 2nd best paint option, base coat/clear coat being number 1. I only paid $4500 for the car and put new interior and front end, shocks(kyb) ball joints, steering rack. I don't know anything about paint but it seems that the great paint jobs are a couple grand. I just want it to look decent, it's a daily driver, fun car, not for show. If I go with maacco will it bubble and peel in a year? Has anyone used them or is this "just wrong" to do to a vette. Thanks-E
If we had a Maaco here I would definately take my 95 in. The estimates I have recieved from local shops start at 4500. You could always ask them for some contact numbers of previous customers.
I wish I could, never been to california. Un fortunately I live in CT but thanks for the offer and your vette does look awesome.-E
where are you in CT, I am here also (your profile is pretty incomplete). I have had a friend use Maaco to just 'clean up' an old Mustang. He got what he paid for, it really wasn't great, but it looked better than before. I dont know what it looked like a year later, he sold it right after he painted it. I would say if you can afford it, just get it done right. Prices here in CT vary greatly depending on where you are; shop around and you may find someone who really needs the work and can hook you up. Also I would check with the local clubs to see who "works" with the guys in the club. It may be the best 50 bucks you spent to join the club if it hooks you up with vendors that cut you a break.
I had my 1979 Blazer repainted by Maaco back in 1992. I was short of money at the time and thought this is the best way for a paint job. It looked nice for 2 years. The paint on the hood faded from the sun, I thought it would at least last 4 or 5 years before fading. They use very cheap paint. As said above, stay away from Maaco and, You get what you pay for.

Hey your the only the 2nd guy from CT I have met here. I live in colchester. I have not found any corvette clubs yet but we do have a car club that has a monthly show in colchester. LOt's of great cars but only a few vettes. Unfortunately I just can't spring for the great paint job. I have spent so much on everything else, it runs great, just need it to look better. Thanks for the help
