Default Hood Support Question.

Sometime back there was a discussion about a conversion kit to convert the 85 from the two cylinder set up to a single strut arrangement like later years. Does anyone have a clue where one of these kits can be bought. All I can find are listed as "Discontinued". I am getting a sore back from lifting the hood.

Here's an example, In the Eckler's Corvette catalog they have what you're looking for. 1985 to 1996 Hood Support, $94.99. Use with, part number 31246 hood support bracket $16.99. www.ecklers.com

Take a look at the left of this screen, lots of Corvette venders who advertise here. Take your pick. Oh, maybe start requesting Corvette parts catalogs if you haven't already. Check out ebay too for your hood support. Or go to the gym and build those arms up, hahahaha. Just joking with you, my 85 hood and me don't get along too well either anymore.

Played the Ecklers game. Live about 20 minutes from them. Their kit was $259.00 (**** that) but like everything else has been discontinued.

That's pretty odd the hood supports are discontinued, but I do believe you. Over the last few years I've seen how C4 parts are discontinued. I have Catalogs from back to 84, 85 etc. Lots of parts have been discontinued since then.

I just got a new Mid America catalog last week. 88-96...hood support, telescoping large....609-623...$79.99. In the text they call it, 84-96 conversion kit with instructions. Maybe this helps, check em out.

The two cylinders are just to assist, you should have the scissor type hood support to hold it open. My 86 came with a broken scissor when i got it so i just bought a later style strut off ebay and was able to make it fit fairly easily.
