lost key
i lost my ign key to my 1992 lt1. gm cut a key without the vat and it would not even turn tumbler can i bypass the vat? pulled tumbler out and theres two small white wires going into top of key tumbler what does those two wires go to? ken

Those two wires that go to the ignition tumbler are what connect to the VATS resistor pellet in your ignition key. When I bought my '93, the guy had lost the keys, so I contacted a local locksmith that does key work for the dealers. Showed him the title for my car, and he called a GM dealer I think and they gave him the VATS code for my car using my VIN. He cut a new key for the doors and I bought a new ignition tumbler/switch with a VATS key. Paid $165 total.
