Het guys, How are the Power Effects exhaust, worth the $$?? They seem cool, I was at Carlisile and they had them set up, but not on a car. How is the tone u get out of them open- closed? Thanks Guys, can always count on you
They are one of the better systems out there.. haven't heard of any issues with them. PE's customer service is great also... I'm also considering them for my car... just the $1300 dollar price tag scares me a bit.
In my opinion they're worth every penny! The sound is the best and they look incredible too. In the fully open position they're fairly loud. But in the closed position they're not too much louder than stock. Mine didn't have a resonator so there was significant resonance around 2,000 RPM, but I'm sure it wouldn't be near as bad with the resonator. Good luck with your decision. If you buy the PE, you won't regret spending the money.
I've got a Power Effects catback on my 91, and they look, and sound great. They were easy to install in my driveway, and are high quality construction. They're powder coated so they won't yellow like stainless will, and my tips are ceramic coated. These babies will last a lifetime!!! The tone is deep and loud, in the open position. Highly recommended! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Have the Power Effects modules connected to a custom 3 inch exhaust. Have the original Power Effects exhuast pipes if anybody is interested. You could probably get some used modules from Power Effects and connect them to the pipes.
i love mine-- only complaint is bad resonance at 2-3K rpm anywhere but wide open but i also have a gutted cat. they were easy to install and I think make the car look a lot tougher-- really sounds good too.
I can get the partial system for $800, but it requires cutting of the stock exhaust. I'll prolly go that route if I do it. My other option right now is long tube headers into stock exhaust.
Love mine. I got them off E-bay for $1000 brand new. The resonance is particularly bad between 1800 and 2000RPM. That's between 62-68 MPH, so I just drive at 70+ :D .
I've had several C5ers say they wish they could get them.
The deep sound even scared off a CIVIC with NOS, and I didn't shift from Park :smash: .
I have TPI'S headers, Dr. Gas X pipe, no cats, and the PE. Very deep sound, like the big blocks of the 60's . Had them installed, no problem. An A-1 system.
Intersting replies. So far no comments regarding performance improvements. I would be interested in hearing weather the performance justifies the price.

Thanks.

There is a nominal power increase, but no catback is going to make much of a difference by itself. My trap speeds went up 1-2 miles an hour, but my ET didn't go down. Buy 'em for the sound, not HP. :yesnod:
