Default Buildup decisions

I've seemed to run into a hard spot on deciding which path I'd like to take on my build. I have no real budget to speak of at the moment, but lets throw in a number like $3k for the sake of discussion - it will take some time for me to accumulate that, so I've got plenty of time to think on it. This is where I've gotten so far in my thoughts:

Choice #1) 142 Weiend blower running 6-8psi, cutting hood and using a 3-5" scoop, topped with either my current 750 or a chokeless demon/holley. Price range is @ or a little over $3k, would need to factor in labor since I don't trust myself with an install like this, but it also gives the opportunity for water/methenol injection and/or wet nitrous setup for future mods.

Choice #2) Swapping in higher CR pistons 11-11.5:1, torque converter upgrade to 9.5" 3k stall, rear gear ratio swap to 3.75s w/d36. Price range is higher overall, and labor is a lot more for motor/tranny disassembly. It eliminates the prospect of a future blower application, but can still use same carb and future support for nitrous.

Thoughts/concerns? I love the thought of forced induction, but to drop $2k on one mod is a lot to swallow. I would still consider a converter/gear swap if I did the blower, but the gears may step down to 3.54 since I'd not want to over-rev the motor. Plus those mods would be far down the line for cost reasons.

On the other hand, my cam (234/244dur) would equally love higher CR with N/A breathing, better gears, and a higher stall. Of course, I could always do these mods one at a time to save money, but I'd like input as to what everyone else would do if this was their buildup. Lets hear it.

i would love to Supercharge my 87,but the whining noise i totally annoying after a while
no wonder why a lot of members take the SC off and sell it.-
N/A for me
but i don't discard totally the inclusion of a SC in the future,at least for a season.-

How 'bout a 406 SBC?

You could drop it in place of the 350, build it to run at a max of 5500 RPM, and have a lot of fun...

IMO, the C-3 vettes were the last ones that looked good with a blower sticking through the hood.

High C.R. pistons will give you a bit more power (especially with a matching cam), but as they say, "there's no replacement for displacement."

I don't know what you particularly like, for your "style" of ride... Myself, I prefer subtle (though my last 'big" project was a '74 with a 6-71-blown 427 BBC)... A 406, or even stroked to 421, you should see somewhere close to 500 HP, and it'll all tuck under the hood.

More cubes whenever possible! Especially with the costs of stroker kits coming down, there's never been a better time to do so!

Alright, so third choice I didn't really consider before was to stroke. I'd rather not dive into machining the block, so I think I would want to keep it at 383 max or else I would've started with a 400 block instead.

The whole idea of my build was to see how far I could push a 350 (355 in my case) before it won't run faster. Sure I'd like to stroke it, but that defeats the purpose of removing the TPI in the first place - low-end torque is nice and all, but I like to rev too.

If I wanted something bigger than a 350, I'd have started with a 400 and either stroked that, or destroked to a 377 and made a screamer. In theory, I could always destroke to a 327.. or was that a 302 with 350 pistons?
