One of the PO's had installed the altec's on the rear, so I added a front set painted body color. I like the look and they seem to help keep debris and crud off the rockers and rear quarters.
I saved the splash guards off an '84 and at some point will put em on the '85.
BTW Steve, its against the rules to drag up a post more than 90 days old. The mods generally dont do anything but if you have something to say after your Forum search, instead of posting in the old thread just start a new one.
I have the clear ones on mine. They look great as they don't take away from the body lines and you can hardly see them. I've had them for a few years now and they still look like I just installed them. They have definitely saved the paint from tar and stone chips.
Without (yes I know the back wheels were on wrong. They aren't anymore)

With a white car and that black molding going down the middle I had no choice but to attempt to try and dress the molding up as an accessary so it doesn't look like a bad haircut. That's also why I went with the black LT1 style tip maganaflows, so it all blends in and brings the molding to an accessary.
The PO didn't have any and the rockers, on my car, are scarred up. The guards don't totally eliminate the crap but it stops 80% of it.
On some cars they look good and others not so much. But I'll protect my car anyday when I have an opportunity to do so.
