Whats some good stuff to use to get all that rubber junk off the console?

Hey Mike,
Do you think that stuff will work on old baked in adhesive on top of the dash pad? It came from an adhesive strip of velcro to hold down a radar detector 20 years ago. Will it discolor?
I've tried the 3M adhesive remover but thought it might be too aggressive...pad is in great shape otherwise.
