Default 92 vert fuel filter

Greetings, I am about to remove my fuel sending unit to fix a sticky gas gauge sending unit and while I have the unit out I plan to replace the fuel filter. Maybe I'll get less of a bath with the pipes out of the tank. The xbrace is really in the way so advice on whether it has to completely come out or if I can loosen it and drop one side, would be appreciated. Also, does anyone remember the size of the fuel line fittings, I want to be sure that I have the correct flare-nut wrenches.
Any other tips are appreciated.

Thanks, E-fish

Don't remember the wrench size (probably something like 15 to 17mm), but it will be much easier to remove the X-brace entirely to get to the filter. Two bolts at each corner and the 6 nuts on the rear half of the brace. It's those 6 nuts that will keep the brace from dropping down far enough.

What you can do is to remove the fuel pump relay fuse and start the engine and let it run until it stops. Use the Schrader valve to release any line pressure and keep the front end higher than the back by at least 6-8".

Then remove the entire pump assembly from the tank. There will still be some gas in the lines from the tank to the filter and from the front line back to the filter so a pan or container still needs to be there to collect any gas that drains.
