We can't figure this one out. I am driving down the highway at 65 and the engine shuts off. The temp is around 170. I put it into neutral and it starts right back up put it in drive and it keeps going. Sometimes at a red light it stalls. Last week I was going up hill around a exit ramp turn and it stalled out. Every time it starts right back up. Any ideas for the problem?

The Same thing happen to me , turn out to be a dirty fuel filter, not allowing fuel to flow, when it stop back pressure moved some dirt around and it started back up, replaced the filter never had the problem again.
I had a problem like that, checked almost everything, changed the ignition coil, and it fixed it. The problem turned out to be the hot coil breaking down. Why starting it again fixed it temporarily is a baffler though
It's a 1985. Sometimes it shows a low fuel pressure code but not to often. I can start it and it shows service engine soon, turn it off and restart it and there is no message. I really appreciate the messages so far and am going to start trying the advice.
The man with the computer in his hand said that the check engine soon light was on because of low pressure. He said a number but I forget what it was. Most of the time the service engine light is not on.

Sorry, I don't mean to laugh.
If you would like to throw money at it, I'd start with the fuel pump (easy fix) and filter.......
seriously though, the SES light burning is something that needs to be addressed. If you are new to cars, now would be a good time to search out the list of codes for your car and then learn to pull the codes yourself.
Don't stop there.....now, once you have the codes, please attack the issues.
Just to show you that I am trying to help I will post the possible codes. You will see that there is nothing about fuel pressure. I don't care how magic the scanner is, If there is no sensor, the computer can't scan it. There is no fuel pressure transducer on a C4.

Those are the exact symptoms when the Ignition Control Module gets old, the engine will die suddenly on the road and then start right back up when coasting in neutral.
It's located inside the distributor cap underneath the rotor.
The 85 Vette is still stalling. I took it to a GM dealership and they checked everything. They let it sit running without a stall and drove it around the parking lot without a stall. I picked it up and went to get on the highway. It was a little jumpy trying to get it to accelerate but didn't stall. I filled it up with gas and was going through town and again it stalled at a red light. This car doesn't like stopping at red lights without stalling. Any ideas.
