service engine soon light on
I have done a forum search and no answer.
On a 1987 C4 how do I reset, turn off, the "Service Engine Soon" light?
Been on for a year now and finally getting to me

You need to check for the code that made it come on, but to turn it off or clear the codes disconnect negative battery cable for a couple of minutes, but if the problem is still there it will come back on.

Pull the code, fix the problem, then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
Ground A and B with paper clip, turn key on, and count the flashes as described
HERE Write down any trouble code(s)
Now go here and fix the problem(s).

no reason to pull battery cable.
Just take the ECM fuse out for a few minutes.

When the SES light came on in the '88, it was a loose connection on the EGR pigtail.
