Default carefully

1993 Ruby LT1 8200 mi.
Remove rad cap / open rad drain / remove knock sensors at oil pan.
Stuff lotsa rags between water pump /opti spark distributor and block.
and gently, low pressure flush system until running clear.
Open bleeder valves at thermo housing both sides and refill until full, close bleeders as soon as possible.
Did this with mine and had virtually no air bubbles and didn't even have to top it up later

remove the KS shields

disconnect KS

place a container underneath the KS

using a 22mm socket, remove both KS

you'll get better drainage if you let the car rest at normal height

If you choose not to remove the KS, you'll only flush the radiator and hoses. Most of the "junk" rests at the bottom of the block.

Take the time and do it right

You don't need a hose, let gravity do it's job.

The hoses I spoke of are the car/engine coolant hoses, if the Vette is in an angle the heater core and tank will not drain.

I was under the car the other day, going to flush the coolant out, I think I found the knock sensor it's on the left side just above the oil pan about middle, this right? Is there another knock sensor other than that one? When I pull it out and reinstall it should use any type of sealant, on the threads of the knock sensor? I don't want it to leak!

My 96 LT4 has two. Not sure what year they added the second one. May be an OBDII thing.

There are two KS, one either side. They screw into the block about in the center just above the oil pan. Can't miss them once you're under there.

Thanks for the info.

Drain the rad. / remove the two knock sensors. Bought some peak coolant, and distilled water, mixed 50/50 filled and open bleeder valve on housing it seemed to have no air! Easy job

Whatever you do or how you do it, replace the stat and try to clean the radiator. See other threads related to that. I flushed my system and it increased coolant temp to the 230s. It turned out the stat and cleaning radiator outside was the trick.
