Anyone know what circuit the lamp is on that illuminates the PRNDL letters in the console at the shifter? Mine doesn't light, which makes knowing what gear you're in at night almost impossible.
Replaced the bulb but seems the circuit's not getting power. Looked through all the wiring manuals and can't find anything about this lamp. Really don't want to take the dash apart to trace the wires.
It gets power from the 3 amp inst fuse. There is a large junction in the wiring harness above the radio where all the instrument panel lights (including the shifter light) get power.
There are a few pics. Some by me and some by the member who was helping me.
He helped me via private messages. He was great.
Ultimately it was determined to be a dimmer switch under the driver's side dash. Specifically, it runs down the left hand side of the steering wheel column. It was burned up. I replaced it and everything worked. As a matter of fact, a whole bunch of stuff started working.
I was getting no juice to the fuse box. By shorting out two of the wires, he determined that this dimmer switch was bad.
Thanks for the info. All other lights in the dash light and dim properly so seems odd that would be the cause of shifter light not working. Going to check the fuse voltages.
Wish I could find the schematic in the service manual.
