Hi, question 1: my display for the speedometer feul etc on my 90 is dark when the cars in the garage but works out in the sun. Is this normal, can i adjust the sensetivity of the light sensor(how)?
And two: I finaly got around to doin the K&N / cut lid, when i took out the air box i found what i guess is a leaf deflector. I pulled it out. Should i have?
I can answer the dash question for you, the sensor leaves the dash dark because in the dark you would turn your lights on. When you're driving in the daylight try putting your thumb over the sensor and watch your dash will start to dim. So yes this is normal. If you need to see your dash lights in your garage put your running lights on and the dash will light up.
Thanks alot. Im not as concerned about the deflector i removed cause i saw one similar for sale as an aftermarket add on. It looked like much more air could get in without it. :seeya
What exactly does the leaf deflector look like. When I did my open lid I saw nothing of the sort. There should just be an opening for air to get to K&N and then the filter and then the open lid. I dont think that it will matter weather it is there or not. Hope that helps :seeya
When you say the leaf deflector, I think you mean the flat black plastic thing that lays onder the air box. That is a water deflector. It keeps water from splashing, or rain from being driven into the air filter. Leave it in. Its important, inspite of looking kind of cheezy.

YUP! that was added to keep water from the intake tract. Put it back, no real flow impedance, just keeps H20 out.
