The 88 L98 was rated at 245HP and the 90 L98 was 250HP. The manual tranny in 88 was the Doug Nash 4+3 and from 89 on the manual was the ZF 6-speed.
The 88 with the manual had 3.07 gears in the Dana 44 while the 90 6-speed got 3.33 gears.
The front and rear brake rotors were larger (12" vs 11.5")
The base tire for the 88 was the 255/50-16 with the 275/40-17 being an option. The 90 got the restyled dash that had both digital and analog gauges.
