Hello All,
I purchased a 1992 Automatic Convertible that had an Engine fire on drivers side from A/C Failure, the Computer is fried, I put power to the car and the horn blows and the lights go up & down and the dash lights come on and go off. I only connected power to get windows back up to store the car as I pick up parts.
But I have a computer & Harness from a 1992 vette coupe that had a 6-speed, Will this computer work in the Auto C-4?

The computer will, the chip in it will not.
Now the good news is your current computer has the right chip in it!
So just pull the chip from you old one and put it in the new one.
However I think you have a bigger problem than the computer.
It sounds like you have a lot of wiring shorts and grounds that need to be addressed before you even try hooking the battery and new computer up.
HAVE A LOOK AT EVERY CONNECTIONS, GROUNDS, INJECTOR WIRING AND FUEL LINES BEFORE TRY STARTING THE ENGINE OR THE WORST CAN HAPPEND BY NOW AND GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY ON ANY BATTERY RECONNECTION JUST IN CASE GOOD LUCK (sorry about caps lock)
Will the chip still be good?,,,the wires are not burn't but the caps are just melted a little and the Aluminium case is warped some, The only part of the wiring harness that is bare is the bulk right next to the AC unit above the Left upper A-arm.

Its worth a try, Sounds like it would be OK. If it doesn't work someone like PCMforLess could burn you a correct chip.
Ignition key is probably ok. We have something like 3 "computers", the CCM, ECM, BCM.
The ECM is in the engine compartment, the CCM is behind the dash, the BCM is in the bin behind the driver seat. The CCM is the one that reads the VATS resistor in the key.
