I guess I need to come up with a new CF screen name since my '84 is no longer black. It is now COMPETITION YELLOW!!! I have pictures in my camera at home but not here at work so I'll post pictures later this evening after work.

Reason: Adding pictures of new paint job
Did you want the beltline painted the same color or did the painter make a mistake? Either way on the new paint. Copper
We decided to paint the beltline trim yellow since there was some damage to the trim that didn't look right when it was in contrast to the body. The damage is hardly noticeable when painted the same color as the car. The door handles will be back to black in a few days... they will be fixed this week-end.
The color is Corvette "Competition Yellow" taken from the 1995 color charts...
did you need to do anything different priming the belt line than you did for the body? I'm planning on doing the same to mine in the near future. I actually like the door handles body color, nice color choice.
+2 on the handles, I think it looks great!!! And now you can powdercoat your plenum and runners in comp. yellow too; that would be really hot! (Agent86, show 'em what I mean!!)

We used the same primer and sealer on the beltline as the remainder of the car. Primer was high build/sandable and the sealer was something my son-in-law (the painter) insisted be used. I can't recall what it was. I bought all of the paint and chemicals and the bill came to right at $800.00...

The final cost out of my pocket was in the $1,700 - $1,800 range and keep in mind, the painter is my son-in-law... If we weren't "related" I expect it would cost at least twice that. Also keep in mind that I did much (not all) of the prep work at his direction.

Good to know you got what you wanted. That color will sure turn a few heads as you roll down the road.
