Cutting off the rear mufflers won't increase the noise level too much, but will give a deeper sound. Most of the muffling is done by the cats and the center resonator. A good muffler shop can do the job for about $100.
depends on the exhaust you have in IMO.
Do you have the billy boat, or what kind. I had another vette with the 3 mufflers, and it was loud as hell.
all my cars have had straight pipes (including this one) or no tail pipes just mufflers on ford, and loud/deep enough rumble to set off alarms driving by, or on start up.
If it is that system I would not do it, it might be really really deep, and the law will get you for noise.
The large muffler in the center (if stock exhaust) is a resonator. You can remove the mufflers and replace with eliminators but you will pick up a droning sound at @ 1500 RPM or so.
It drives some people .
I have them on my 92 with the stock resonator. It does drone but doesn't bother me. Does sound good though.

i eliminated the center Resonator ran straight pipes, kept the stock cats (for now), and added flowmaster in the rear...$225. sounds deep.
with factory tips..
96 LT1
We have straight pipes with muffler eliminators and sounds great to us. System is from Corvette Central.
Same here, with the crossover pipe to eliminate droning.
About 25% loudness increase, but I can't be sure as I'm nearly deaf (about 50% hearing loss).
Haven't been stopped yet, while my daughter's BF with a Cobra Mustang running Borla exhaust has been ticketed.
I have the muffler eliminators on a stock 94 LT1. I liked my first set and when they died, I replaced them with the Corvette Central ones with the LT1 tips. I really like them. These are better made than the first set I had. They are considerably louder than the stock mufflers. At idle and part throttle they sound good, just a little louder and deeper. At more throttle they are quite loud. You can make noise when you want to or drive more cautiously and not attract too much attention.

Love the sound.. had people hanging out of their car windows to tell me they like it too You'll need to upgrade the stereo
