Default looking for my first vette

i have been searching for a vette for awhile now i stumbled upon something. i found a 96 that says its a grand sport and has emblems on the fender. now im no expert but i thought gs only came in blue with the white stripe down the middle. if im wrong i apologized if they came in any other colors how many did they make this one is red if its real rare or not or is it bs. it seems like a real good deal it might be worth looking at it. thanks for any help

They only came in blue with a white stripe and the red hash marks. Black or red interior. I think some came as convertables as well.

That is a nice lookin car man but it is no GS. I picked up a 95 Coupe for $13,000 with 39,000 miles on it, IMO you might want to keep lookin around.

I don't think it is an original paint job. It looks like the car used to be yellow by the looks of the door jamb. You can see a light overspray of the red. JMO Copper

The VIN tells us that it is in fact a LT4. It also lets us know it's not a Grand Sport.

1G1YY2254T5103020

8th character in the VIN: 5 = LT4 , P = LT1
12th character in the VIN: 1 = Regular Corvette, 6 = Grand Sport

The car will have "Grand Sport" on the throttle body though, as all LT4 cars do. So, a lot of people assume they are Grand Sports.
Someone has added the Grand Sport badge on the fender though.

I think that is just the glare in the picture. Red will do that in the sunlight.
I have seen some pictures of my red '96 do that also.

There were only 390 Yellow 1996 Corvette Coupes produced.
And of those, only 143 were LT4 cars.

So, can't see someone repainting one. Not saying someone wouldn't though.

GS paint scheme LOL stay away from anyone selling this, if they are really trying to sell it as a GS, and not just GS stripes or something.

OK
I am no expert but I know Lt4s are rare enough
I could be mistaken but the only diff from an LT4 and a GS is paint
This is a low mileage LT4 car talk them down and you won't be disappointed
The LT4 vettes were underrated at 330HP they are more like 350HP
