Default Keyless Entry

Why does the keyless entry lock the doors with the keys in the ignition? I know if you hold the keyless entry button down you can stop it. But it should not lock the car with the keys in the ignition.

Something is malfunctioning. It is not designed to lock the doors when the key is in the ignition. (But to be safe, never leave the fob in the car).

My 96 will not do that. It will keep clicking (opening the doors until I insert the key in the ignition).
So when I walk up to the car, it will open the doors. When I walk away, it will lock the doors.

I've purposely locked the door with the key in the ignition and the door always unlocks itself after closing the door. (did this as a test of course)

Not quite accurate

The VKE 1000 has a loop that needed to be cut in order to disengage this feature.

If you find your PKE Head unit stuffed away in your car somewhere.....There is a door under the CCC symbol. Open this door and there are three "loop" toggles.

Red loop= Chirp On/Off. makes your horn chirp when the doors lokc.

Yellow Loop= Ignition Locks On/Off...this is the one you want to disable that pesky auto lock.

Blue Loop= Door lock pulse duration. .8 seconds at default.

^^So just for kicks I dug mine out this eve.

The little door was there....but there was no way to reach those wire loops with anything that would cut them.

I wound up taking out the four screws that holds the housing together...this exposed the PCB and the three wire loops.

Clip the Yellow and remove a HUGE AGGRAVATION.......

I want the doors locked.......I'll reach over and push the button.....I don't need something to lock me in/out every time I turn the key on
