Have a 1987 stock engine. Found what looks like a vacuum check valve in the bottom of the engine compartment. I remember connecting a vacuum hose from the rear of the intake plenum to a check valve near the firewall but I see in a repair manual a picture of a check valve connected to a short hose that is connected to the throttle body on the side with the throttle linkage.
I've searched all thru the FSM and only found one vacuum check valve. Is there two vacuum check valves on an 87 vette?

My 87 only has only one check T -valve drivers side rear near dizzy, bottom line runs to A/C, line is in main loom rear of motor, middle line goes to cruise control, top is vacuum supply connection is rear of plenum passenger side.
This is the routing of the other lines but it dose not show the T-valve in the rear, Just shows the A/C feed port. I guess if you had a car without cruise you would'nt need the valve

The side port of check valve runs to the vac ball so it would be in use regardless of whether you have cruise or not.The check valve maintains the vac in the ball .
The ball stores vac so your cruise and HVAC don't drop out when engine manifold vac drops ; like when accelerating
