I replaced mine in my 86...not a bad job but time consuming.Heres a few steps.
Drop rear exhaust down.
Remove rear bumper cover.
Disconnect the fuel lines at the tank,and disconnect the vacuum line.(Be sure to relieve fuel pressure first.)
Unplug the sending unit wires and tie them out of the way.
Disconnect the tank straps and cables.
Loosen the 4 bolts that hold the frame on the back.I think the first 2 front bolts need to come out.
Lower the frame far enough down to clear the back body panel and lift tank out.
I also suggest after you relieve fuel pressure first before the job, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to prevent sparks or explosion.
