convertible top installation
I was looking at replacing the convertible top on my 96. how difficult is this do ? I do all my own mechanical and electrical work. I have a good set of tools however, I've never done a convertible top.

We did my wife's 87 not long ago. It wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be. We put the glass window in with the retrofit kit. I wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'll look to see if I still have directions that were emailed to me.

You can do it! Patience is the key. Carefully take your old top off, you need to clean all the old glue off of all of the frame work. Start with the back first, this piece needs to be centered. I do half at a time on the back. It's a tight stretch to fit properly. Do the front last, this piece is much easier. I use weatherstrip adhesive to install my tops.

I did mine a about a year ago, I went slow and it took a couple of days also replaced all weatherstrip, here's a good article to read before you jump into it, but if you have patience very doable.
