I moved the hood release cable for the passenger side where it belonged, behind the distributor cap and wouldn't you know it, when I tried to pop the hood, that side wouldn't release
I finally got it open using a small pair of vise grips pulling the cable from under the dash. There has to be a way to adjust the cable length, right? I can't find anything in my FSM on it, but I'm probably missing that page like I am for the wipers. I am definitely putting in an emergency release cable tomorrow, but I also want to fix the cable so its working properly. Any ideas guys? I do have an idea of taking up the slack in the cable with a nylon spacer, but if there is a better way, I want to do it.
I've seen a set on ebay and plan to install something like that for the future. I will probably use the fishing leaders I have, they aren't being used for fishing, so I might as well put them to good use.
PAINTER MAN, I have what look likes adjustment blocks to the right of the latch but it looks like they've been adjusted all the way already. I guess replacement of the cable is in order to solve that or I can pull the slack out of the cable and attach a new stop on the end.

No worries. I played with the adjustment block and was able to get to the point where it would open without fuss. I greased the latch to keep it fluid and then installed an emergency cable, just for kicks.
