Default LT4 Collector Edition Red Interior- Value?

Any idea what a '96 LT4 Collector Edition with red interior(one of 164) with 43,000 miles is worth? I'd say the paint is 8.5 thru 9 out of 10 and the interior is probably the same. Everything works.

Very rare to see one of these up for sale, so I'm wondering what kind of money it would fetch.

It seems that folks selling these cars always want top dollar and seem to think it is comparable to the Grand Sport. Asking price with low mileage seems to be upper 20s to low 30s.
I will need to check my notes when I get home tonight but I was at Bloomington Gold Mecum auction and a 18,000 mile LT4 vert, low options with red guts sold for low 20s.
As my bride can tell you, my memory is not too good though. Check the Mecum web site to be sure.
Are you looking at a coupe? I would say that a fair price (if well optioned) would be $16,000 to $20,000. If you happen to get into negotiations with the seller just quote the price of a clutch and dual mass flywheel to him. It will eventually need them and they are CO$TLY
If it is what you want though and someone else is after it then just go for it. If you wanna play your gotta pay.
After the red guts GS and yellow over black LT4 this is my favorite C4.
Although a Callway beats them all no matter what color!
I have often wondered why someone does not just buy a CE with a gray interior and change it out to red. Might be a lot cheaper than paying the premium.
Good luck in your hunt!

I actually own the car in question. And I did pay a premium for it last July. This is the second Corvette I've owned and I'm just not as enamored with it as I was my first Vette(which was my daily driver). The car is too nice/rare for me to drive everyday and I feel bad putting more miles on it!

With 43,000 miles on it I wouldn't worry about driving it. Usually your premium is in the teens and below. Everyone has taken a bath with the values of their cars. I've seen cars with next to nothing on their odometers that got less than the owner thought it was worth. The car is only worth what someone will pay for it and unfortunately nobody wants to pay.

I wanted to pay! But unfortunately the economy has tanked in the last year since I bought it. So you're right, there's most likely fewer people who will pay!

OK, so my memory is shot. Checked Mecum's site. 1 of 54 96 CE verts with red guts and 6 speed. Sold for $27,500. Mileage was quite low but the site does not say that.
I will see if I can find my notes after work tonight.
If you want to sell it then put it out there. There may be someone willing to pay your price and has been waiting for this exact car to show up. Hell, if I win the Lotto I may buy it myself.

Here are some comparables for you. His cars are priced very high and most are very low in miles.

Low numbers/rare doesnt always make it a "highly sought after" car unfortunately. What you see listed in magazines and what they actually sell for are two different things. Maybe the right guy is out there for your car but getting a bunch of $ for a C4 is tough no matter what it is...Even GS/Callaway/ZR1 are selling for much much less than they were a year ago.

Isnt this the truth....
I have seen quite a few nice ZR1s selling for what appears to be dirt cheap. I probably would have bought one this year if I hadnt spent so much on engine parts for my car last year!

It's not for sale, currently. I got it with 40,000 miles on it, and 13 months later, it's got 43,000 miles. I just don't drive it. For the money tied up in this, I'd like some sort of convertible that I'd drive more often.

Kerbeck ( the vette dealer in Atlantic City) is selling his 2009's a minimum of $10,000 off. One that has a sticker in the low 60's was offered in the low 40's. Too many 2010's coming in and they have to get rid of the 09's. Alot of members have to keep their cars because you take a bath when you try to sell them. I know I'll never get out what I have in, so I'll keep it before I give it away.

Now would be a perfect time to buy yourself an additional C4..

For what it's worth, my guess is in the $15-16k range unless you can really wait for someone who's just "gotta have" it. CE's really aren't that collectible. There were more Collector Editions than any other paint color in '96. A red LT4 coupe is more rare.

They are neat though, and should go for a little more than a regular LT4. But not very much more. They didn't go for much more when new though either. The CE option was not very expensive.

Comparing LT4 CE 'vert prices to coupe prices probably makes as much sense as comparing GS coupe prices to GS 'vert prices. They don't compare.

Just my two cents. No expert on the market, but I have been watching it and looking at cars as a friend is looking to buy.

LT4 verts always bring more.
If I was you I would take it to Barrett Jackson auction in Palm Beach next spring. They sell it on a no reserve basis so it is guaranteed to sell. You just risk that some dude will cherry pick it for 10K
It does seem that they tend to start the bidding at a decent price and someone always seems to step up and pay.
There is a 20,xxx mile 95 coupe in my W Michigan area right now on craigslist with new tires and in perfect condition. Green over black, automatic. Unmolested and original. $10,000. I have seen the car and can't believe it has not sold yet.

Aside from the poor economy, the market is flooded with 96 CE's right now, so your chances might not be good. You do have the ideal color combo though. Hang on to it for another year and enjoy the hell out of it.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, personally, i wouldn't pay more than 15k to 16k for a nice LT4, regardless of color, mileage, or options. Quit worrying about what it's worth and just drive the dumb thing. These cars are not investments and it's a waste of a perfectly good car treating it as such. These cars are meant to be driven.

40 or 50k will not make any or little difference on C4's selling price... it is the best collector color combo and with LT4 WOW! some pics will be nice
