And the best part is that a lot of NEW cars get the same gas milage as OLD cars. Case in point my99 jeep gets the same mpg as...a 2009 jeep. Vettes seem to do about the same....all BS designed to spur the economy???? I bet half the people who buy these new cars get them repo'd...cause they don't have the money for them....just like.....all the house foreclosures...caused by...banks who would lend to anyone.
I got 28 Mpg on a trip in my 87 Last year. So these things aren't complete gas hogs at all. I do get around 16-18 when driving the city with it. I'd love to see a list of what all the people in congress to see if it fits the MPG goals they are shoving down our throat. Makes me want to hide away my 87 instead of selling it
you can thank chairman hitler-obama and the selection of some punk college dropout as his minion little car-czar for coming up with that particular plan to help kill america.
who's REALLY to blame? anyone who voted the enemy of the state into the white house -- look in the mirror, you know who you are.
This is absolutely disgusting. Destroying the used car market and classics along with it! I would have paid the owner 4,500 to save this car, instead it's now off the market/non-existent and is one less car that is on the lots for some lucky, but not exactly rich individual to pick up as his pride and joy!
In fact not to long ago I was in this situation, I browsed the car lots looking for my next car, and my eye caught a 1995 black targa for 11k that had recently been traded in for a new model. When I mentioned it to a salesmen, he hadn't even known the car was there, not even the manager did - it was totally outshined and unloved in light of the new models. But it was a STEAL in the condition it was in and the low miles, Now I can't help but stop and stare for a moment when passing by in the garage.
Absolutely disgusting. Remember this when you next vote. And, if you didn't vote in the last one you are as much to blame as those that put these idiots in control. And if you don't think your opinion counts, you are wrong. Write to the idiots in your district and tell them all how you feel about the power grab. They only understand one thing. How many votes does this action win me or lose me and if you think otherwise, you are IMO naive.
Banks, Auto manufacturers "Clunckers-as defined by Congress", Guns, Doctors - What piece of the free market will the idiots attempt to control next? That's up to you! They can't run what they already have their hand in. Look at what the geniuses did to the housing market, all in the name of politics. If you believe that government intervention into free markets speeds recovery, study the great depression. It was a recession BEFORE the government screwed with the forces of supply and demand and prolonged and deepened the decline. Suggested reading "The Housing Boom and Bust" - Thomas Sowell on bookshelves now.
And I really resent being called "astroturf" and part of "an angry mob". I am a business owner who creates payroll and jobs, well educated, well informed, and really pissed!
Sorry for the rant but to quote from network " I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore" As they do in my birthplace of Chicago, vote early and often whether dead or alive.
I agree with all that was said do not wait for 2012 do it in 2010. Your lockel and fed. reps can change things also It is time all car guys get involved. If our vote was in a block IE all for one we can make a diff. And in case any fed. jack boots want to know my guns and vette are also locked and loaded
People wont do a damn thing about it,it will be OUR cars on YouTube.People will sit back, let it happen and then say,we should have done something. Here in Ca the car hobbiests are starting to grumble.Start early and get the message out there. That was an early 86,low miles by the look of the paint on the valve covers and the original Gatorback tires. This is the second high interest vehicle Ive seen traded in on the Cash For Clunkers deal, the other was a mid 60s Buick Riviera.
who's REALLY to blame? anyone who voted the enemy of the state into the white house -- look in the mirror, you know who you are.
That's too funny Who wanted change again? Very sad day Alot of clunkers are being taken off the road, but alot of decent cars also. The people who can't afford new vehicles are the people who are going to suffer with less used cars on the road, not to mention possible collector cars in the near future. Oh yeah, change is good isn't?
Did you see the smoke coming out of the engine?! I thought part of the purpose of this program was to reduce emissions!
this program never has anything to do with emmissions, it has to do with a money system that only functions when the money is constantly moving.
The day they made the program they probably burned many barrels of fuel to get to the meeting in a jet. it some times make me sick, that they have power to control other people.
just another way to get people to spend money they don't have.
How sad, I am struggling to build my 90 project and they are being paid to destroy them. Pour some a that stuff down the throat of the person who started all this !!!!!
But the plus side will make the C4's go up in value when a better majority of them are gone. But it's true this has nothing to do with emmisions, it's to keep the automotive industries, banks etc alive.
No way that could happen man!!! We are living in a virtual Nirvana now, soon to get better with all of the spending.....Wait a minute someone wake me up I'm getting sticky!!!!!!
It'll be ok....Maybe you should have just calibrated your words differently?
That was painful to watch. What is that stuff they pour in?
sodium silicate, and its gone up in price 700% in the last two weeks according to my paint-chemist brother-in-law who uses it in some manufacturing process at his company.
