Default determining which engine

I've been looking for parts for my 93 C4 and I get asked which engine I have. I've just been assuming it's an LT1, but how can I tell for sure? I don't see DOC anywhere but is there a code in the VIN or something so that I can be sure?

You have a 93, you have an LT1. The only other engine offered in 93 was the LT5, available only in the ZR1 (and you would know if you had that). The option label on the underside of your rear passenger compartment will list LT1.

Thanks, where exactly is that option label? Under the carpet or under the floor pan?

On your 93 the RPO sheet should be stuck on the underside of the center console lid unless a PO changed the lid.

It's affixed to the underside of the lid of the compartment behind the passenget seat.

If you strike out under the center console, rear compartment and gas tank another option is the Corvette Museum, just send them your VIN and the appropriate fee. Well worth it by the way.

There were only 2 engines offered in 93. LT1 and LT5. They look NOTHING alike. Just look up pictures of each.

Or another even quicker way to tell...does your tachometer go up to 6,000 RPM or up to 8,000 RPM? LT1 cars have tachometers that go up to 6k rpm with the LT5 equipped models going up to 8k.

The 8th digit of your VIN will have the engine code. It is either "P" = LT1, or "J" = LT5.
