Passive keyless entry Light keeps coming on
I have a 94 vet which really means a lot to me. While I am driving the Passive Keyless Entry light keeps coming on.. just stated doing this.. that is not so bad but, it is starting to open the rear hatch while I am driving.. that is not so good.. Does anyone have any ideas.. I just dumped about 800 into repairing the last warning light problem. Service Engine Soon, which turned out to be a purge value, some relays, and a sensor in the engine, so I was told.. the guy seemed really good and seems honest, so I guess I believe him.. Any chance he bumped something while he was in there or.. I have only gotten to drive this thing 4 times all year and it is already August, in Boston. In two months I will have to put it away for 5 months. So.. it would be nice to drive it a few more times at least.
Has anyone had something like this before, what did you do.. I would like to fix it but.. man.. this is getting expensive, just had to put new rotors and struts on it and tires, and new hand brake.. I did the high performance ones and.. you know..

1st thing I'd do, is change the battery in the fob. You DO have a fob, right?

OOPS, if you are talking about the SES light coming on; don't get in any hurry to fix stuff. It comes on all the time, so much so, it doesn't even set a DTC that stays. The EGR valve and it's components sometimes don't work as they should. So, the SES light comes on. IF it does, and does NOT come on again when you restart the engine, DO NOT worry about it. A shop will never find the problem.

thanks.. no it stayed on.. we replaced the canister. That did not help, then some tubing, then some relays and then it turned out to be a sensor in the engine.. man this was not cheap.. about a month take home, well two or three weeks anyhow. Seems good now.. but now the PKE light comes on and stays on and then hatch is now possessed by demonic forces. opens when I am driving.. Looking into that now..
sigh. so..

I never had an FOB....but had the same light and hatch opening problem....the fix was to pull the fuse... all well for several years now.

I just had this happen tonight. This thread is about 16 years old but anyone else ever have this or find a solution? Was driving and the Passive Keyless Entry light started flickering. Then it came on full time and then the hatch popped while going about 30 mph. What was weird was the hatch mechanism just kept unlocking over and over. Pulled the fuse on the hatch and it stopped then drove home. I get home, turn off the car, and wait. I go back out to the car and magically it has locked itself. I had the PKE off per the manual. And I kept the fob in a drawer. The fob has not moved in months. Not even been bumped so I know it wasn't active. However I go dig out the fob, press the button and it unlocks. I put the fuse back in for the hatch and the unlocking over and over has stopped but now the PKE is on full time. I can turn it off again without a problem but just damn. To think it just magically turned on and popped the hatch? Strange!!

I know I can turn it off or just pull the fuse but any other suggestions or novel fixes?

Any thoughts??
