Ok this is pissing me off I cannot start my cR unless I use a screwdriver on starter with the ignition on. Tried to find the relay start behind the dic pannel I think that's what it's called I was told I could bypass this relay but the 1985 doent have this I pulled the fuse that disables the theft system and still no luck. What the hell is going on if there's no vats on my 85 then why will my car not start . The shop that tried to install my blow n go did something to my car
If you bought the GM manuals for your car it would be obvious what the problem is. You likely have a defective clutch safety switch (gear selector sw at the base of the shifter if auto). Unplug the switch and jump the socket and try a crank.
My car has a b&m shifter I've owned The car for seven years no problems until shop tapped into my ignition and security light is now on. I have no pellit on key I tried to bypass the green/white wire and the purple wire or jump which ever. Still no start.
I'm not sure but I think they designed those security systems to keep the car safe in the event that some thief decided to pull a fuse and jack your ride. I found out that my car('84) won't start if the door hasn't been unlocked from the outside. I had locked the door with the window down and unlocked it from the inside, when I got in and tried to turn the key...nothing then the alarm started, had to turn the lock from the outside to disarm it. Maybe something wrong with that switch in there? good luck
i know on my 84 the security relay was on the backside of the carpet on the passengers side behind the breadbox... my relay went out, and you should have seen the looks i got when i drove my 84 there and got out with the relay in my hands
