I am a newbie, had many killer muscle cars, but now decided I was old enough for a vette. I picked up a 91 L98 car. I am first looking to replace the seats. The leather in there now i faded like crazy, and was once dyed. To horrible to look at. I am 6'6, so moving the seat back and forth isnt that big a deal to me, it stays all the way back. Are most after market seats the same dimension, and can I just pick up whatever I think looks good. Anyone had any luck with any seats.
I will ask what others have done to make the 250hp number better later. But that is the next step.
Getting your seats recovered is fairly expensive and though I'm sure there are aftermarket seats that will fit, they are few. You might want to consider Iggee seat covers for now. These fit like a glove and look like leather seats for <$200. Use the search on here and you'll pull up a lot on them including pics.
I like these seats. If I were to purchase aftermarket seats for my corvette , I would buy these. I have some in one of my other cars and I like them Not sure about fitament in a corvette.
I paid ~$750 to recover my seats, and put in OEM carpeting.
If you're handy, it's not that tough of a job.
You can even buy new foam padding (I didn't, mine were still OK)
1 day each for the seats and carpet install.
I bought a seat leather replacement kit that contained new rods, hooks, and a pliers for the hooks, and a can of 3M 777 spray glue for the carpeting.
Bought it all at Corvette America, which has the die sets from GM for the carpeting, and patterns for the seats. Other vendors outsource to C-A for their capets/seats.
