Default Proper Documentation ?

I am interested in pulling together a correct, well organized documentation portfolio for my original 1986 Indy Pace Car. Can anyone advise me on what should be included in a "Properly Documented" car? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

To start, do you have the Original Build Sheet? How about the Original Window Sticker? Copies of these are nice, but not as nice as originals.

It's also nice to have the Original Invoice/Order Form. Any Owner's Packages (sometimes including a special pin, pen, flashlight, video, etc.) that came with your car in 1986 should be included. A Dealer's Brochure for 1986 is also a plus. If you are not the original owner, do you have documentation (a paper trail) showing how many owner's the car has had, and are these people accessible?

There is also the area of maintenance documentation. This would include any and all receipts for repairs, scheduled maintenance, modifications, etc. I'm not sure if you are looking to sell your vehicle, but having proof of the care that the car has received is a positive selling point.
Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your feedback. I think I have most of this stuff; I just have to dig it all out and put it together. I'm don't think I have the original build sheet. Any ideas about how I go about getting a copy?

You can order copies of the build sheet and sticker from the national corvette museum.

About $60 for both.

You might be able to recover the original build sheet from the outside of your gas tank. I was able to recover mine although in several pieces. I wasn't as careful as I could have been. I got to mine by removing the spare tire support and accessing it through the bottom. Others have reported using other methods.
good luck
Rick
