The decals will not harm the paint
I have been in the sign business for over 15 years and can tell you that these will not harm the paint. They will protect it, which could cause problems if they were left on for a long time and then removed. The paint would look better where the decal was. By that time you would probably need a new paint job.
Anyway, they are not easy to remove. Heat gun, adhesive remover, plastic blade remover tool.... It takes a lot of work, but if done right it will not harm the paint.
