Newbe 87 tear down: need help
New to Forums entirely:
I am not sure how to do this so I just will: 3 questions to anyone with C4 knowledge. I am tearing down a 87 c4 for a new clutch and got to the tranny.
I tried to first search TECH forums for this: Upon the removal of my "4+3" tranny to get to the clutch, I found the "front" electrical connection on the warner borge to be shorted out.
I have 2 shop manuals, and have searched on line, and cannot find out what the first, front, electrical plug into a sensor is.
There are 2 di-pole plugs with black and green wires which plug under the first and second shift linkages on the left side.
I think they are SPEED SENSORS, and need to order a new connector and sensor, before I can determine why the other one fried.
Now keeping in mind my father gave me this car with no clutch, so I have not been able to dirve yet: what is a "4+3" manual transmission ??? My father didn't know / didn't use it ??? I know Jerico's, really well (love those dog-rings), but never hear of 4+3.
Is there a manual out there which has FULLY labled diagrams of all C4 systems?: I have clarton and hanes (spelling) and they have one name in the diagram/picture and call it somthing eles in the discribtion.
Am I in the right place to post this?
Thanks
Jordan

One other source to use is www.corvetteguru.com
One of the owners of this site is Andy Bogus. He lives in Torrance and owns an 87 and a 92. The man has been under, in, and around the cars and knows his stuff. He is always willing to lend a hand.
Good luck!

2. switches just go bad from use and being in a hostile environment. (near the exhaust)
3. 4+3 means overdrive available in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. so you have a 4 speed with 3 overdrive gears.
