rebuild question
I have a weak no.8 cylinder caused by detonation. Metal on the spark plug. 85 with 136k. Probably a 8 out of 10 that is my DD. The local shops want $4200 to do complete rebuild with water pump, wires, etc. Is it worth it, or should I look for another Corvette?

I'm guessing you do not wrench on the car yourself. Thats a lot of $$$$ to spend on an 85. A do it yourselfer could get it going for much less. That said you would do better shopping for another car.

For those sort of $$$ you could buy a drop in brand new ZZ4 with no downtime for the rebuild and get some $$ back from your old engine.

I used to turn my own wrenches when I was younger, but now I don't.
I work a lot of hours and can't fit it into my schedule. I really enjoy driving my c4, but lately it has been unreliable. I am hoping a complete rebuild will remedy that.
