i have an 86 coupe with a stock bose radio which has a cassette player. i'm having problems getting an ipod to hook up. i first tried a wireless fm transmitter but the interference was real bad. i tried two different makes of cassette adapters and with both of them, the cassette player would start to reverse itself then eject the tape after 1 or 2 seconds. any suggestions for a fix would be appreciated. the car is in great condition and is all original. i'd like to keep it that way.
I've used different FM transmitters in all my cars... never an interference problem.
Is the interference because the FM band is just so crowded in your area?... or are you talking interference from electrical "noise" (ie: an electrical noise that changes pitch with engine speed.)
If it's electrical noise from the car, that's indicative of something improperly shielded on your car. Could be that replacing ignition wires would fix that. Or it could be a "cheap" alternator (or one that's on its last legs.)
Still... it could get expensive and time-consuming trying to eliminate what's causing the interference... might even be easier to replace the head-unit and keep the stocker on a shelf.

There are adapters that connect directly into the antenna wire. We tried several transmitter types with no success because of noise/interference and then purchased the direct antenna wire connection adapter at BB.
