1984-1996 Suspension Difference
Just a guess but I would assume that most suspension is interchangable............... Flip a coin... 86 or 88........ zr1 option will be for stiffer stuff............... swaybars and spring rate for the leaf spring............. Maybe someone else will have a more of a technical answer on determining the actual year but thats how I would be looking at it...... If your looking for ball joints and bushings almost any year should be workable...........

88+ rear has a thick spacer between spindle and hub to mount caliper and park brake on caliper .
84 - 87 have park brake shoes inside the rotor with a alum backing plate.
84 - 87 rear shocks have bushes both ends where as 88+ have a stud top mount. Most rear parts , springs , half shafts , hubs ,diff center ,etc interchange ; 84 - 96.
The smaller Dana 36 diff has 3 bolts across the top where the head is bolted to the batwing ; the stronger Dana 44 has two
88+ front has 2 piston calipers ; 84 - 87 has one
Nothing on the front interchanges between the two styles.
88+ is 3/4" a side wider than early.
Springs have a 3 letter code stamped in them to identify spring rate.
