engine coolant temp sensor
i installed a new ect sensor which is on the water pump and now i get a SYS when reading the temp on the digital display. example: it will read 180 then it will say SYS then it will tell me the temp again.
my question is do i need to reset something after switching the sensor out with a new one ?. i already disconnected the negative cable on battery to try and resett ecm.

I replaced mine whem I replaced the water pump and didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary. I did check the codes with a paper clip and did not find any codes present. I would try disconnecting the battery again and also try to pull codes.
