I had the same problem with my 84. After much troubleshooting and replacing the computer (I now have an extra if anyone needs one) I found the fuel pump relay was bad. It's located on the firewall to the left (facing the firewall) and below the power steering unit.
Good luck,
Rich
When messing with the pump relay always check the wires going into it on cars this old. This is what I stumbled upon on our 86....
Can anyone tell me if this is all i will need to replace the fuel pump? I know i also need the rubber gasket at the top. But was curious so i can order everything at once,Thanks...David
$#^&**(^#$!!!!!! Now that felt better,a little.. Well looks like someone had attempted to change that pump out before and snapped one of the bolts right off. I soaked them all with PB and let it sit for several hours and guess what happened on the very first bolt!!
Anyone have any suggestions? I have tapped them tried turning them in both directions. I am afraid to put to much pressure on them as i do not want to break anymore of them off..
Anyone think i will be able to get those broken bolts out with a tap?
