Default Power Outlet

I have a 1994 Corvette, and I'm trying to find a place to power my FM transmitter until I upgrade my head unit. I was browsing through my Owners Manual and it said something about there being an outlet somewhere under my center console? Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, there is one in the center console. I think the wires are underneath the rug.

Idk it said I had to remove a bunch of screws and actually get under the plastic to reach it, but it sounded kind of weird so I wanted to double check.

There are a few screws in there, I think the same ones you take out if you want to take the shifter panel off etc.

On the C5 you can tap into the floorboard passenger side, not sure if the C4 is the same.

Oh okay, so is it in actual plug like for instance, the lighter outlet, or is just wires?

There's a constant hot, switched hot, and a ground.

It's just wires. As mentioned, one is 12v always hot, one is switched thru the ignition and the other is a ground. IIRC, the two power wires are fused with separate 10A fuses

To get to them ,I think all you have to do is to remove the two screws at the front of the console box near the hatch button and lid latch. The should be about 3-4 inches long.

If my failing memory is correct there are three wires. Orange, pink and black. The orange is always hot, the pink is switched and the black is grounded.

You may not even have to take the screws completely out to reach them.

From the owners manual:

To use the accessory plug:

1. Open the center console and carefully pull the carpet away from the
coinholder to uncover the screws on either side.

2. Remove the screws.

3. Open the ashtray, pull out the rubber insert from the front cupholder and remove the screw inside the cupholder.

4. Remove the four screws that attach the console door.

5. Remove the console door.

6. Remove the trim plate by pulling up and back.

7. Disconnect the plug by pulling forward on the plastic locking tab and pull the plug into the console.

The plug has three separate wires:

The orange wire connects to the battery.
The pink wire connects to the ignition. Power is only available in “Run.”
The black wire connects to the ground.

Correct on the above once you pull the lower portion of the console shift plate , approx under the seat switches you will see the three wires clipped to the floor.
